
Softball Falls to Mizzou

COLUMBIA, Mo. – UNT softball lost 2-1 to Missouri on Saturday at Mizzou Softball Stadium.
The Mean Green (26-18) sustained its second consecutive one-run loss and sixth of the season. North Texas held the Tigers (27-20) scoreless through five innings but relinquished its lead in the bottom of the sixth.
McKenzie Wagoner (L, 9-6) spun 5 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and allowed two earned runs on four hits and one walk. She and the Mean Green defense retired the side in order from the second to fifth innings.
Lexi Cobb led the offense with a two-hit performance including a second-inning double that placed two runners in scoring position. She also collected her 18th stolen base of the year to move into a tie for second on the all-time single-season list for UNT.
Defensively, Cobb recorded a career-high mark with six putouts to best her previous mark of five set at the Conference USA Championship on May 14, 2021, against WKU.
Molly Rainey collected her 14th RBI of the season on a sacrifice fly in the second inning to score Rylee Nicholson.
For the day, North Texas outhit Missouri but stranded seven runners on base, four of which were in scoring position.
