
Softball Visits Missouri for Weekend Series

COLUMBIA, Mo. – UNT softball travels to Missouri for a non-conference series against the Tigers at Mizzou Softball Stadium. The three-game slate is scheduled to begin on Friday at 6 p.m. with all games broadcast on SEC Network+.
The Mean Green (26-17) hits the road after picking up back-to-back Conference USA series wins and holds a 7-2 record in April. The Tigers (26-20) defended its home park with a 4-3 win over border rival Kansas on Wednesday night.
Mikayla Smith earned Conference USA Player of the Week honors on Monday after she posted a .375 average with two runs, one home run and four RBI in a pair of C-USA wins over Charlotte. She and Tatum Sparks both carry career-best seven-game hitting streaks into the series.
Over the past 10 games, Sparks leads the team with a .462 batting average (12-for-26) and seven runs while adding four RBI, three doubles and three stolen bases.
Ashley Peters led UNT with a pair of wins over Charlotte in 12 2/3 innings and 13 strikeouts. She set a career-high mark of 11 strikeouts on Saturday in her sixth complete-game victory of the season. Peters ranks 22nd in the nation and first in the conference with a mark of 0.98 walks per seven innings this season.
North Texas is tied 1-1 after the two programs split a doubleheader in Denton on March 30, 2011.
