
Softball Hosts No. 7 Oklahoma State in Midweek Matchup

DENTON – UNT softball hosts No. 7 Oklahoma State on Wednesday to open its final homestand of the season. Tickets for the matchup are sold out with live coverage on ESPN+ beginning at 6 p.m. from Lovelace Stadium.
The Mean Green (29-20) enter the midweek meeting after a sweep of Conference USA opponent Florida Atlantic and have won its past five league games. North Texas suffered a 2-0 loss at Oklahoma State (41-9) on March 22 and seeks its first win against a nationally ranked opponent this season.
Cierra Simon was the offensive hero of the weekend after she tallied a pair of game-winning runs against the Owls. On Friday, she hit a solo home run in the eighth inning before the shortstop recorded the final out on a diving catch. Simon followed on Sunday with a ninth-inning RBI on a sacrifice fly which clinched the sweep.
Tatum Sparks recorded 14 defensive assists with three putouts in the three-game sweep of FAU. UNT recorded zero errors in the series and holds a 14-4 record in cleanly-fielded games this season.
On Monday, Ashley Peters was named C-USA Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season and fourth of her UNT career. She ranks top-25 in the nation with a 5.67 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 1.02 walks allowed per seven innings. Peters has 102 strikeouts and 18 walks over 123 innings this season.
North Texas has held the Cowgirls to four runs or fewer in four of its past five games but trails 7-21 in the all-time series.
