The Mean Green will honor three players on Senior Weekend
DENTON – Winners in eight of its last nine Conference USA games, UNT softball welcomes league foe Middle Tennessee to Lovelace Stadium for a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
Entering the weekend, North Texas (30-20, 14-7) ranks third in C-USA and MTSU (33-15, 12-8) sits in fourth place. The Mean Green trail first-place UAB by one game and second-place Charlotte by a half game. The 49ers host the Blazers for a three-game set in Charlotte.
UNT has secured its place in the eight-team conference tournament set for May 10-13 in Ruston, Louisiana.
North Texas captured its first top-10 victory at home on Wednesday over No. 6/7 Oklahoma State. The win marked the sixth victory against a ranked opponent at Lovelace Stadium and first since April 17, 2013, against No. 19 Baylor.
Conference USA Pitcher of the Week Ashley Peters spun a pair of complete-game victories at FAU with nine strikeouts over 17 innings. She allowed one run on eight hits and two walks in the road sweep. Peters will be honored alongside catcher Karina Falkstrom and former North Texas pitcher Jaycee Cook in a postgame ceremony on Sunday for Senior Day.
The Mean Green hold a 23-18 edge in the all-time series record against the Blue Raiders with a 7-2 mark at Lovelace Stadium since 2010. The teams have not played since the 2019 C-USA Championship in Birmingham, Ala. when UNT knocked MTSU out of the tournament.
