AKERS SAYS: "We have done our best to prepare for Lonnie Poole over the past week," UNT coach Michael Akers said. "It is great to have access to Hurricane Creek, Dornick Hills and Denton Country Club to prepare for Bent grass greens. We appreciate all the courses that help us each week. I think the No. 1 thing for us is just play our game. We have defeated highly ranked teams numerous times. We have the 13th best scoring average in the nation and just need to minimize mistakes and play the Par 5s well."
MOVING UP: North Texas has made significant strides since head coach Michael Akers took over seven years ago. The Mean Green were ranked No. 201 following the 2015-16 season, and since Akers arrived in Denton, UNT has soared more than 150 spots from that time. The Mean Green are now consistently ranked in the top 50 nationally.
UP NEXT:Â The Mean Green hope to clinch their first berth to the national championship, which will be contested at Grayhawk in Scottsdale, Arizona, on May 19-24.
Â
NEW FACILITY: The Mean Green golf programs are thrilled to have the new Bruzzy's UNT Golf Practice Facility, which is a $3 million on-campus facility that features state-of-the-art technology, such as TrackMan, swing catalysts, indoor hitting bays, a short-game area and a PuttView indoor putting green.
