Men's Golf Opening New Era In Michigan

The UNT men's golf team opens the 2023-24 season as a member of The American and with a new head coach in Luke Calcatera, as the Mean Green head to Michigan's Upper Peninsula for the Island Resort Intercollegiate.
THE EVENT: Sage Run Golf Club will play at 7,375 yards, and will be a par-72 course for the tournament. The two-day event begins Sunday and runs through Monday with tee times each day beginning at 7:40 a.m., from Holes 1 and 10.

THE FIELD:Â There are 11 teams participating in the tournament: Boise State, Bowling Green, Coastal Carolina, Illinois State, Miami (OH), Michigan, Ohio, San Diego State, St. Mary's, UCF, UNT.

REPRESENTING UNT:Â Competing for the Mean Green will be Tucker Allen, Diego Prone, Rafael Estrada, Dawson Meek and Cody Winkler. Alvaro Roldos and Harry Lord will compete as individuals. Estrada, Lord and Meek will make their Mean Green debuts.

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR: The Mean Green feature seven international players this year. Rafael Estrada (Mexico), Nikhil Gopal (South Africa), Harry Lord (England), Diego Prone (Argentina), Simon Roessler (Chile), Alvaro Roldos (Spain) and Philippe Thorin (Ecuador) round out the international players. Meanwhile, four players (Tucker Allen, Preston Holmes, Key Coker and Cody Winkler) are native Texans.

UP NEXT: UNT will return to action Sept. 11-13, at the Streamsong Intercollegiate in Lakeland, Florida.
HOME SWEET HOME: The Mean Green golf programs are thrilled to have the Bruzzy's UNT Golf Practice Facility, which is a $3 million on-campus facility that features state-of-the-art technology, such as TrackMan, swing catalysts, indoor hitting bays, a short-game area and a PuttView indoor putting green.
