King Saves Day With Late Equalizer

In the 86th minute the Houston native scored the match equalizer with a left-footed shot from the top of the 18-yard box.
With the draw, UNT now has 10 points and sits in a three-way tie for second place of the American Athletic Conference standing with Memphis and East Carolina. A loss Thursday would have meant the Mean Green were in fifth place.
"Just trying to make something happen," King said of her goal. "We were creating a lot of opportunities. I went left and got some space so I shot it."
King, who has started 11 of North Texas' (7-3-3, 3-1-1) 13 matches this season including Thursday's, has been key for the Mean Green's midfield this season and has proven to be a huge piece for the program moving forward. She put two of her team's 10 shots on goal Thursday versus the Roadrunners (6-5-2, 1-3-1).
Thursday's match like every match between North Texas and UTSA was a wild one. Six yellow cards were handed out Thursday.
UTSA opened the scoring in the second minute when they scored on the first shot of the game off a set piece that was created because of a UNT foul. It's the earliest goal the Mean Green have conceded this season.
The Roadrunners took the one-goal lead into the half but North Texas tied it up soon after with a Summer Brown goal less than five minutes into the second half. The goal ends a five-match scoreless streak for the junior.
However, UTSA responded fast. The tie lasted for just 20 seconds of game action as the Roadrunners retook the lead.
UNT peppered the Roadrunners' keeper with eight shots after conceding the then go-ahead goal but it was the ninth off the left foot from King that saved the day.
North Texas' next match isn't for 10 days as they travel to Rice on Oct. 13 to face the first-place Owls. UNT beat Rice last season in Denton, 6-0.
