DENTON — After an 11-day break, it's longest break in between games since 2021, the UNT men's basketball team returns to action Wednesday night at the Super Pit to host Mississippi Valley State at 7 p.m. CT.
The game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield and ESPN+.
Wednesday's home contest against the Delta Devils (2-8) begins a five-day stretch for North Texas (6-3) where they will host three games to close out its non-conference slate: Mississippi Valley (Dec. 18), Appalachian State (Dec. 20) and Houston Christian (Dec. 22).
The Mean Green are 4-0 all-time versus the Delta Devils and beat them last season in Denton 79-48. Returning starting center Moulaye Sissoko had 10 points and nine rebounds in the win last season over MVSU.
For Wednesday's game fans can purchase a Stuff-A-Bear ticket package, which includes stuffing two plush animals at the Super Pit prior to tip-off in addition to the game ticket. One stuffed animal can be kept and another to throw on to the court during halftime that will then be donated for the holiday.
UNT enters Wednesday's contest as arguably the nation's best team at turning opponents over. The Mean Green have a defensive turnover percentage of 24.9 percent, which ranks third in the nation and a defensive steal percentage of 16.1 percent that ranks first in the nation. Each of the three teams UNT faces this coming week turns the ball over an average of more than 11 times per game. The fewest turnovers UNT has forced this season is 12. They have forced five of their nine opponents into 15 or more turnovers.
After this three-game stretch, UNT will have eight days off before starting conference play on Dec. 31 versus the reigning American Athletic Conference Tournament champ UAB at home.
