
Softball Suffers Road Defeat

TUCSON, Ariz. – RV UNT softball fell 8-0 in five innings to RV Arizona on Saturday at Hillenbrand Stadium.
North Texas (1-2) dropped below .500 for the first time since Feb. 13, 2021, after it collected one hit in a shutout loss. The Wildcats (4-0) accumulated six runs in the third inning for the second-consecutive night against the Mean Green.
Senior Kailey Gamble broke up a no-hit bid in the fourth inning with a single to right field, her first hit of the season.
Left fielder Rylee Nicholson snared a pair of diving catches in foul territory including the inning-ending out in the fourth. She drew a walk as the only other player to reach base along with Gamble.
Sophomore Mackenzie Childers (L, 1-1) drew the start and pitched 2.1 innings with three strikeouts. She allowed seven earned runs on seven hits and three walks.
McKenzie Wagoner appeared in relief for the second-consecutive night with 1.2 innings of work and gave up one run on one hit over seven batters faced.
UP NEXT
The Mean Green will finish the Candrea Classic with a Sunday doubleheader against Lipscomb at 10 a.m. CT and Northern Colorado at noon CT. Both games will be streamed on FloSoftball.
