Women’s Basketball Heads to Florida Atlantic for Midweek Contest
2/12/2024 1:28:00 PM | Women's Basketball
DENTON, Texas – UNT women's basketball (18-5, 8-3 AAC) will hit the road for a short road trip to face Florida Atlantic (8-15, 3-9 AAC) Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT in Boca Raton.
Coming off a 78-65 victory over SMU, the Mean Green once again hold sole possession of first place in the American Athletic Conference. However, the race is tight at the top with the five teams being within one game of UNT.
While Florida Atlantic lands near the bottom of the conference standings, they recently had a two-game win streak in which they upset Rice and Charlotte. The Owls have been a different team since Aniya Hubbard returned to the lineup. She did not play in the first meeting between the teams on Jan. 7 when UNT rolled to a 86-52 win, but has averaged 22 points per game in her last five outings.
The Mean Green enter Wednesday's contest with an opportunity to make more program history. With a win, this year's team could join four other UNT teams with 19 regular-season wins, tying them for the most wins in a regular season in program history.
Wednesday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Ari Shanok and Natalie Kalibat on the call. The game can also be heard on the Varsity Sports Network with Zac Babb.
