Softball Drops Two on Sunday

DENTON, Texas – UNT softball dropped its final two games of the Tracy Beard College Classic at Lovelace Stadium on Sunday. The Mean Green lost 11-2 in five innings to No. 14 Missouri and 7-2 against South Dakota State.
"We have some things to work through and we've got some things to improve on," head coach Rodney DeLong said. "And we will, we always do. We just [need] to have a good week of practice and move past the weekend."
North Texas (3-5) tallied its first two home runs of the season at Lovelace Stadium on Sunday. Saleen Donohoe sent a two-run blast over the left field wall against No. 14 Missouri (10-0) for her first home run of the season and 18th of her career. Mikayla Smith tagged a solo home run in the seventh inning versus the Jackrabbits (5-5) for her first of the season.
Starting pitcher McKenzie Wagoner (L, 1-1) completed 3.2 innings against the Tigers with two strikeouts. She spun 1.2 hitless innings in relief versus SDSU and added one strikeout to her two-game total.
Skylar Savage (L, 1-2) started against the Jackrabbits and finished with two strikeouts to match the ninth-best career mark in program history with Jennifer Smith (2008-10) at 182.
UP NEXT
The Mean Green host the UNT Invite at Lovelace Stadium beginning on Friday with a meeting between Stephen F. Austin and Texas Tech at 9 a.m. North Texas faces New Mexico and Minnesota at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday.
