DENTON, Texas – UNT golfer Rayhan Latief will represent his home country of Indonesia at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship at Emirates Golf Club's Majlis Course in Dubai, U.A.E., beginning Thursday.
Lateif will be making his fourth consecutive appearance at the tournament coming off a top-25 finish in 2024. Indonesia's highest-ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Rankings will look to take home a prestigious title that comes with more than just a trophy. Sunday's winner will earn invitations to play the 2026 Masters and The Open Championship.
"Thinking about this now, I really hope and know I'm capable of having a chance to play in Augusta National next year, if not in the near future," Latief said in a preview with the tournament's directors.
A true freshman at North Texas, he posted a 73.33 scoring average in two events during the fall season. His best finish came in a tie for 46th at the Trinity Forest Invitational where he posted rounds of 71-76-73 to finish 4-over par.
Latief will tee off Thursday morning in Dubai alongside Australia's Billy Dowling and China's Qiyou Wu. The field of 120 players will be trimmed to the leading 60 plus ties after 36 holes. Live results throughout the tournament can be found here.
