BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — The UNT men's basketball team fell 64-61 at UAB Monday night.
The Mean Green (16-6, 7-3) were led in scoring by senior Jasper Floyd who finished with 15 points, his most since the season opener. Brenen Lorient added 12 points off the bench and big man Moulaye Sissoko recorded his third career double-double as he finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
UNT had an opportunity to tie it on the final possession of the game but the Blazers defended it well and the Mean Green were unable to get a shot off.
"I loved our fight, of course disappointed in the outcome, I thought the game was pretty even across the board but ultimately it's hard to not look at the box score and see the 15 turnovers," said head coach Ross Hodge. "But a ton of respect for UAB and coach Kennedy."
Team stats across the board were pretty even, however, UAB (15-8, 8-2) was strong at forcing turnovers Monday night. They forced 15 North Texas turnovers to the Blazers 11. UAB scored 17 points off those turnovers.
Next up for UNT is a four-day break before hosting Tulane Saturday at the Super Pit.
