Softball Suffers One-Run Loss at Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – Despite hitting four home runs, UNT softball dropped game one of its conference series 8-7 at Tulsa Friday night.
The Mean Green (22-12, 5-5) led 4-2 through four innings, after it tallied three solo home runs, and held the Golden Hurricane (18-16, 6-4) to one only hit. Tulsa roared back with six runs over its final two offensive innings to gain an 8-5 lead after the sixth. Madison Conley's seventh inning two-run home run cut the lead to one, but North Texas was unable to plate the game-tying run which was stranded on first base.
North Texas stranded a total of nine runners on base including three in a bases-loaded opportunity with one out in the fifth inning while the bullpen walked eight batters and recorded one hit-by-pitch.
Senior Emma Grahmann opened the scoring with her first career home run, a solo shot, in the third inning. In total, Grahmann reached base in each of her four plate appearances to mark a new career high and finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
In her first game against her former team, transfer senior Kailyn Bearpaw sent a first-pitch home run over the left field wall in the fourth inning. She would later single in the seventh inning to set up Conley's two-run home run.
Starting pitcher Skylar Savage (ND) allowed only two hits over 4 1/3 innings pitched but distributed five walks and one hit-by-pitch while Kayleigh Smith (L, 2-4) gave up two runs over one inning.
Cierra Simon matched her career-best marks in hits and stolen bases as she finished 3-for-4 with two stolen bases. She added one run scored and one RBI.
