Softball Posts 14-4 Win Over Tulsa, Ties AAC Series

UNT set season-high marks in runs, hits, RBI and walks in conference win
TULSA, Okla. – Mean Green softball recorded its highest run total of the season with a 14-4 victory over Tulsa at Collins Family Softball Complex Saturday. The 14-run output marks ties for eighth place in program history and is the most runs scored since March 18, 2023.
UNT (23-12, 6-5) rode a 10-run fourth inning, which tied its highest single-inning output of the season, to the American Athletic Conference win after the Golden Hurricane (18-17, 6-5) entered the frame with a four-run lead.
Freshman Ausha Moore posted the 28th four-hit game in program history and first since Kalei Christensen (2021-24) finished 4-for-4 versus UTSA on March 19, 2023. Moore is the fourth UNT freshman to tally four hits in a game and first since Lindsay Gregory (2017-18) did so versus Southern Miss on April 9, 2017.
Senior Cierra Simon opened the fourth inning with a one-out triple before Madison Conley walked to set up a three-run home run from Kailyn Bearpaw and cut the deficit to 4-3. This weekend, Bearpaw is 4-for-6 with two home runs and one double for 11 total bases and four RBI.
After a game-tying RBI single from Moore, the Mean Green took the lead on a wild pitch and never looked back. All nine UNT players reached base in the decisive fourth inning as Tatum Sparks, Riley McNemar, Simon and Elizabeth Moffitt each followed Moore with RBI hits in the frame.
Kayleigh Smith (W, 3-4) entered the circle staked to a 10-4 lead and pitched the final four innings. She held the Golden Hurricane scoreless as she allowed only two hits, one walk and one hit-by-pitch.
