DENTON — The UNT men's basketball team hosts Charlotte Thursday night for its last home game of the year. The Mean Green will be honoring their seven seniors pregame and aiming to tie the program record for most single season home wins at the Super Pit.
North Texas (22-6, 13-3) and the 49ers (10-19, 3-13) are scheduled to tip-off at 8 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield and ESPN2.
UNT enters Thursday's game on a league leading six-game win streak while Charlotte heads into the contest on a two-game losing streak. However, they have won two in a row over the Mean Green and lead the all-time series history 10-7. Thursday will be the first meeting between the two programs this season and the first time they've met in Denton since Feb. 11, 2023. Though Charlotte has won two in a row overall against the Mean Green, both of those matchups happened at Charlotte. UNT has won three in a row against the 49ers in the Super Pit.
North Texas owns a 14-1 home record this year. The Super Pit record for single season home wins is 15 by the 2007-08 team that went 15-2 that year at home. The Super Pit opened in 1973. The best single season home win percentage in program history is 1.000 (10-0) set by the 1977-78 team.
Additionally, a win Thursday for the Mean Green secures the No. 2 seed in the 2025 American Athletic Conference Tournament. UNT has already locked up a top 3 seed and a double bye prior to Thursday.
Before Thursday night's game, North Texas will honor its seven seniors: Jasper Floyd, Latrell Jossell, Johnathan Massie, Moulaye Sissoko, Matthew Stone, Rondel Walker and Atin Wright. As well as its senior managers and graduate assistants.
After Thursday's game the Mean Green will close out the regular season on Sunday at Temple before beginning the 13-team conference tournament on March 14 from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth.
