Anderson Pitches Shutout, Leads Softball Past ACU

ABILENE, Texas – Anneca Anderson led UNT softball to a 7-0 victory over Abilene Christian as she tallied a seven inning, one-hit shutout at Poly Wells Field.
The Mean Green (25-12) picked up its fourth shutout of the season in Tuesday's victory against the Wildcats (9-37) while Anderson (W, 10-3) collected her second solo shutout of the season and fourth of her career. She carried a no-hit bid into the seventh inning before ACU opened the final frame with a leadoff single.
North Texas' No. 4 to No. 7 batters recorded all nine hits as Elizabeth Moffitt and Kailyn Bearpaw each finished 3-for-4 while Madison Conley matched her career high of two hits and Rylee Nicholson hit her first home run of the season.
Nicholson started the scoring with a two-run home run in the second inning before she added a third RBI on a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Later in the fourth inning, Bearpaw would come home to score and give the Mean Green a 4-0 advantage.
Moffitt's second hit of the night was a two-out solo home run in the top of the fifth inning before she matched her career high hit total with a single in the seventh. Moffitt came home to score, along with pinch runner Caydance Gaddis, on a fielder's choice by Conley later in the seventh.
Riley McNemar shined as she recorded five defensive assists and three putouts, each on line drives, while stationed at third base.

North Texas hosts American Athletic Conference rivals UTSA beginning Friday at 6 p.m. from Lovelace Stadium. ESPN+ will carry the three-game series while fans can purchase tickets HERE. The Mean Green lead the series 30-14 and have never lost a home conference series against the Roadrunners.
