Softball Falls at No. 25 Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON, Fla. – UNT softball fell 8-0 in five innings to No. 25 Florida Atlantic Sunday at Joan Joyce Field.
The Mean Green (30-14, 12-6) recorded a season-high five errors against the Owls (35-8, 14-4), including three mistakes in the fifth inning that led to six runs which triggered the run rule. North Texas fell to third place in the American Athletic Conference standings after its loss combined with South Florida's (33-12-1, 12-5-1) sweep of Tulsa.
Senior Cierra Simon collected her 200th career hit with a leadoff single in the fourth inning and became the first player in program history with career marks of 200 hits, 100 runs scored, 100 RBI and 50 stolen bases. She is one of five active players in Division I which has eclipsed all four milestones as she joined Mia Scott (Texas), Miah McDonald (Marist), Cori McMillan (Virginia Tech) and Lexi Hastings (UConn) on the list.
Starting pitcher Anneca Anderson (L, 12-4) tossed four-plus innings with one strikeout as she allowed four earned runs on five hits and two walks. Skylar Savage entered in the fifth inning with no outs after the Owls scored two runs on an error.
After recording one out in the bottom of the fifth, the Mean Green allowed four runs to close the game including three on the final play of the afternoon.
