Softball Wins Series Opener Over UAB

DENTON, Texas – Mean Green softball collected a 6-2 comeback win over UAB at Lovelace Stadium Thursday night to take game one of its American Athletic Conference series.

North Texas (31-14, 13-6) trailed by two runs after the top of the second inning before it scored six unanswered runs against the Blazers (20-24, 8-11) for its 16th comeback win of the season.

Madison Conley set a new career high with three hits, including an RBI single in the home half of the second and solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. She also pushed her consecutive games reaching base streak to 18 games which matches the ninth-best mark in program history.

In the bottom of the third inning, Elizabeth Moffitt flipped the momentum with a two-run home run that was nearly robbed at the left field wall. Over the past 10 games, Moffitt leads the Mean Green with 13 hits, 14 runs scored, three home runs and 13 RBI.

Skylar Savage (W, 14-6) allowed zero earned runs over seven innings pitched for her 10th complete game of the season. Savage collected two strikeouts, each in the bottom of the seventh inning, and benefited from a pair of inning-ending double plays by her middle infield.
