
Softball Hosts UAB for AAC Series

DENTON, Texas – UNT welcomes UAB for an American Athletic Conference series beginning on Thursday at 6 p.m. The series will conclude Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. from Lovelace Stadium.

The Mean Green (30-14, 12-6) won its road series over Florida Atlantic but now sit in third place in the AAC standings, only a half game behind South Florida and two games behind the Owls. Senior Cierra Simon was named The American Player of the Week as she led North Texas with six hits, including a three-run home run Friday, four runs, three RBI and two stolen bases.
The Blazers (20-23, 8-10) reside in seventh place in the conference standings after it won its series at UTSA on Sunday and took a one-run victory over Troy on Tuesday. Senior standout Bella Wiggins leads UAB as she ranks third in The American with 56 hits to pair with 17 stolen bases.
UNT head coach Rodney DeLong is 9-9 versus the Blazers including a quarterfinal win at the 2023 CUSA Championship while the program trails the all-time series 13-20. Twelve of the previous 18 games, each under DeLong, have been decided by two or fewer runs including two of three games last season.
For the duration of the 2025 season, fans are encouraged to utilize Walt Parker Road as the primary route to access parking near Lovelace Stadium as South Bonnie Brae Street will be closed at Airport Road.
