GREENVILLE, N.C. – UNT softball travels to ECU for its final regular season series of the year beginning with a Friday doubleheader at 3 p.m. CT from Max R. Joyner Family Stadium. Game three is set for Saturday at 1 p.m. CT with the full series on ESPN+.
Inclement weather in Sunday's forecast forced a schedule change for the North Texas' final American Athletic Conference series of the season.
The Mean Green (34-17, 16-8) sit in third place in The American and need one win over the Pirates to secure a top four seed at the league's championship tournament while the Pirates (26-25, 11-13) currently rank sixth.
Third-place South Florida (38-14-1, 17-6-1) must lose at least two games against UTSA for the Mean Green to have a chance at the No. 2 seed, which results in a double bye to the semifinals of The American Championship.
Last season, UNT swept East Carolina at Lovelace Stadium on March 8-10 before it collected a 9-1 win in six innings in the quarterfinal round of the AAC Championship. Then-junior Skylar Savage tossed a three-hit shutout with six strikeouts against the Pirates on March 9, 2024.
