DENTON – The UNT men's basketball team lost Wednesday at home to South Florida 74-70 for its first home loss at the Super Pit of the year.

The Mean Green (10-6, 1-2) were led in scoring by Je'Shawn Stevenson who finished with a game-high 21 points. His seventh 20-point game of the year. David Terrell Jr. matched his career high with 17 points in the four-point loss to the Bulls (9-6, 1-1) who were picked second in the American Conference Preseason Poll.

"Give a ton of credit to South Florida," said UNT head coach Daniyal Robinson. "They came in with an edge. We knew it would be a tough one. We need to be better in some of the margins. But I liked how we stayed together and fought back. We're just going to have to quickly learn from this, turn the page and get one on the road at Wichita on Sunday."

North Texas' defense forced USF into a season high 17 turnovers. The Mean Green led Wednesday's contest for 17 minutes.

Next up for the Mean Green is a road game at Wichita State Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.
