Softball Hosts Home Opener Wednesday

The Mean Green welcome East Texas A&M to Lovelace Stadium at 6 p.m.
DENTON – UNT softball opens the home schedule Wednesday at 6 p.m. against East Texas A&M at Lovelace Stadium.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Kyle Youmans and Hek'ma Harrison on the call.
Since Lovelace Stadium opened in 2007, the Mean Green (2-8) have won 19 games on the first day of the home schedule including eight of the past 11 contests. North Texas enjoyed a 6-5, walk-off win over national runners-up Texas Tech in last season's home opener on Feb. 26, 2025.
East Texas A&M (5-5) trails the all-time series 0-4 including a doubleheader loss at Lovelace Stadium on March 14, 2023, the first two contests between the Lions and the Mean Green in modern UNT softball history.
North Texas lost four of its five games at The Snowman: Alex Wilcox Memorial tournament, including two losses against hosts No. 14 Mississippi State, last weekend while East Texas A&M dropped three of five games at home in the Lion Invitational.
Due to the final phases of construction to the new UNT Softball Clubhouse as well as the ongoing efforts of the City of Denton Bonnie Brae Street and TxDOT I-35 projects, both travel and parking for home games at Lovelace Stadium will be affected this season. Parking and/or tailgating beyond the right field fence will be impacted due to the current construction footprint of the UNT Softball Clubhouse and the adjacent City of Denton Bonnie Brae project.
