Mean Green Welcome Tulane To Super Pit Thursday Night

DENTON – The UNT men's basketball team welcomes Tulane to the Super Pit Thursday night aiming to extend its winning streak to four in a row.
The Mean Green (15-11, 6-7) and Green Wave (15-10, 6-6) are scheduled to tip off at 8 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield on KHYI 95.3 FM and on ESPN2.
Thursday will be the second meeting this season between North Texas and Tulane. UNT beat the Green Wave in New Orleans on Jan. 18, 71-63. Junior point guard David Terrell Jr. scored a game-high 19 points and dished out seven assists in the road win. UNT leads the all-time series history 5-2 and has won five in a row over Tulane.
Following Thursday's game, the Mean Green will host Florida Atlantic Sunday afternoon at the Super Pit. Including Thursday North Texas has only three home games remaining on its schedule.
LAST TIME VERSUS TULANE
North Texas defeated Tulane 71-63 in New Orleans on Jan. 18. David Terrell Jr. scored 19 points on 6-12 shooting. It's the second-most points he's scored in a game in his career. Reece Robinson fell one rebound shy of a double-double as he had 13 points and nine boards. UNT had a season high 47 rebounds in the win. It was its most rebounds against a DI opponent since Jan. 1, 2022 when they grabbed 56 boards versus Rice. UNT had 17 offensive rebounds versus Tulane on Jan. 18. UNT was 22-of-27 (.815) at the free throw line at Tulane. It's its second-best performance at the free throw line in conference.
HAMMER TIME
North Texas reserve forward Buddy Hammer Jr. returned from injury last Thursday to help lead UNT to a seven-point win over Memphis. He scored a career high nine points in 15 minutes of action. Hammer had missed the previous two games with an illness. Then on Sunday at Temple, Hammer followed up his career performance with another nine-point game this time on just one shot attempt. He was 1-1 from the floor at Temple and 7-8 at the line. He also tied his career high with five rebounds in the win. Hammer became the first American Conference player to score at least 9 points on one shot attempt or less since 2020.
WINS BY A FIRST YEAR UNT COACH
New UNT head coach Daniyal Robinson has secured so far 15 regular season wins. It's tied for the third-most regular season wins by a UNT coach in their first season.
TOP 10 IN STEALS IN UNT HISTORY
UNT enters Thursday with 258 steals on the year. It already ranks sixth in program history for most single season steals. Guard Je'Shawn Stevenson has a team leading 54 steals. It is the eighth most single season steals by a UNT player in program history
