Softball Scores Comeback Win, Falls to SIUE

North Texas sets five season-best marks in win over East Texas A&M
North Texas (5-10) offense collected season-high marks in runs (14), hits (15), RBI (14), doubles (7), and total bases (24) against East Texas A&M (5-10) in its second game of the day at the Lion Classic.
Junior Elizabeth Moffitt led the Mean Green to its second come-from-behind win of the season as she finished with a career high four hits, including two run scoring doubles, with five RBI and one run scored.
Five UNT players recorded multiple hits in the nightcap against the Lions as Moffitt was joined by Ariah Mitchell, Eva Daniels, Bradi Harman and Riley McNemar. Michell posted a career-best three runs scored while Riley McNemar, Blayze McNemar and Lianna Hull each scored multiple runs.
Starting pitcher Britney Lewinski (W, 2-4) recorded a season-high eight strikeouts, one shy of her career best, and only allowed one walk over her six-inning complete game victory against the Lions.
In game one, UNT opened with a two-run first inning against SIUE (6-8) as Harman plated the first run with an RBI single before Moffitt later scored on a double steal play. In the second inning, the Mean Green added four more runs highlighted by a three run, base-clearing triple from Mitchell before Daniels drove in Mitchell for an early 6-0 lead.
Starting pitcher Anneca Anderson (ND) cruised through the opening three innings as she faced the minimum nine batters with dazzling defensive plays behind her as Conley recorded an inning-ending double play from right field to third base in the first and left fielder Blayze McNemar robbed a sure-fire hit on a windy afternoon with a diving catch to open the second.
The Cougars pulled one run back in the fourth inning before chasing Anderson in the fifth and took an 8-6 lead by the end of the frame. SIUE added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth for the final margin of 10-6.
The Mean Green meet SIUE at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning before its Lion Classic finale versus Southern (6-6) at 1:30 p.m. from John Cain Family Softball Complex.
