UNT suffers first American Conference loss of the season at undefeated UTSA
SAN ANTONIO – Mean Green softball fell 5-2 at UTSA on Friday night at Roadrunner Field for its first American Conference loss of the season.
UNT (16-14, 6-1) were outhit by the Roadrunners (18-13, 7-0) 8-6 which marks the first time in league play that has happened this season. North Texas holds a 15-0 record when tallying more hits than its opponent this season.
UTSA opened the scoring with three runs in the second inning – two of which were unearned – before taking a 4-0 lead in the third inning on a solo home run.
Bradi Harman continued her hot hitting with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth before Sofia Schow added her own RBI single as a pinch hitter in the sixth to cut the deficit to 4-1.
The Roadrunners added a fifth and final run in the home half of the sixth to secure a 5-2 victory.
North Texas returns to Roadrunner Field for game two at 1 p.m. Saturday with streaming coverage on ESPN+.
