Softball Opens American Conference Play at UAB

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UNT softball begins the American Conference schedule against UAB, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Mary Bowers Field.
The three-game series will be streamed on ESPN+ with game two Saturday at 1 p.m. with the finale scheduled for noon on Sunday.
The Mean Green (10-13) suffered a 16-4 home loss in five innings to No. 6 Oklahoma Tuesday after a three-win weekend at the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic in Lubbock, Texas. Over the past 10 games, North Texas has outscored its opponents by 32 runs with a .379 batting average over the same span.
Elizabeth Moffitt, who finished 2-for-3 against the Sooners, enters the weekend with the conference lead in batting average (.470), slugging percentage (.864), hits (31), and total bases (57) among qualified hitters.
UAB (11-10) have won six of its past 10 games with losses to No. 1 Tennessee, No. 5 Alabama, No. 12 Mississippi State and No. 19 South Carolina.
Last season, UNT swept the Blazers at Lovelace Stadium as zero batters recorded a strikeout over the three-game set. Madison Conley won American Conference Player of the Week after she finished last year's series with four extra-base hits, including two home runs, and eight RBI.
