Three Men’s Golfers in Top 30 at Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, La. – The UNT men's golf team wrapped up the first two rounds of the Louisiana Classics on Monday, shooting five-under to land in ninth place.
After back-to-back runner-up finishes to begin the spring schedule, North Texas needs to make up five strokes for its fourth consecutive top five performance. It shot under par in both rounds Monday, a feat only six other teams were able to accomplish. Ranked 29th in the country, Texas A&M leads the field by eight shots at 23-under.
Sophomore Blake Keen carded his best 18-hole score of the spring with a 69 in Monday's opening round. He sank three birdies in his final six holes of the round, ultimately leading to a T23 placement with just one round remaining. Just behind him was freshman Rayhan Latief, who matched the best 18-hole score of his short career with an opening 69 as well. Latief concluded play at 2-under, putting him in a tie for 25th.
Alex Huang also entered the clubhouse below par after rounds of 72 and 71. He is currently in position to place top 30 for the fifth time in seven starts this season.
Rounding out the group was Mitchell Maier (+1) and Noah Blaickner (+8), who finished in ties for 46th and 84th, respectively.
Once again playing at Oakbourne Country Club, Tuesday's final round will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT and can be followed live here. It will also be available for streaming on ESPN+ beginning at 10 a.m. with Dan McDonald, Danny Jones and Guy Rials on the call.
