Mikey Malone joined the UNT men's basketball team as a student manager during the fall of his freshman year in 2020. Malone worked his way up to head student manager by his senior year in 2023-24. Following the season he was awarded the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches D1 Student Assistant of the Year award.Â
After graduating from UNTÂ summa cum laude in 2024 with his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation, Event and Sports Management, Malone was promoted to graduate manager and is working towards his master's degree.
Since he joined the program in 2020, he has been a part of an NIT Championship, NCAA Tournament run, three NIT appearances, and two Conference USA championships. AsÂ
He is from Murphy, Texas and graduated from Plano East Senior High School in 2020.Â
