The UNT men’s golf program added Joseph Kirk as an assistant coach in June 2026.
Kirk joined the Mean Green after spending the previous two seasons at UT Rio Grande Valley, first as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s teams before being elevated to men’s associate head coach.
Most recently, he helped UTRGV to one of the most successful seasons in its history as it captured the Southland Conference championship and reached an NCAA Regional, both of which were program firsts. Individually, Jorge Martin Sampedro swept SLC Golfer and Freshman of the Year honors and ultimately qualified for the 2026 NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, Calif. With Kirk’s guidance, the Vaqueros also added a victory at the Compadres Collegiate and had three total players earn All-Southland Conference recognition.
During Kirk’s initial season on staff, the men’s program won the South Texas Match Play title and placed third at the Southland Conference tournament while the women registered their first All-Conference honoree since 2014.
A native of Lexington, Ky., Kirk played in 35 tournaments for Cameron University from 2019-23. He led the Aggies to back-to-back appearances at the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional Championship and graduated as the program’s single round record-holder with a score of 65. He also completed his career with 250 birdies, good for seventh most in program history.
Prior to his time at Cameron, Kirk was a member of the 2019 Midland College golf team that finished third at the NJCAA Championship. He also competed professionally at the conclusion of his collegiate career, making three starts on the Men’s All Pro Tour.
Kirk graduated from Cameron in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
