Cranmer Posts Three Hits In 1-0 Loss

FRESNO, CA (3/13/04)- Junior Stephanie Cranmer posted three hits, but North Texas was unable to get a runner home in the softball team’s 1-0 loss to San Diego State on Saturday afternoon in the Clovis Auto Row Softball Classic.
North Texas (7-28) left six runners stranded on base and outhit San Diego State, 7-3.
Freshman pitcher Katy Maxey allowed only two hits in seven innings of work. San Diego State (16-13) scored one unearned run in the top of the fifth inning to earn the victory.
Cranmer went 3-for-3 in the loss. The left fielder has now posted a three-hit game twice this season. She leads the team with eight multi-hit games. Freshman Heather Bostic, who went 2-for-3 in the game, is second on the Mean Green squad with seven multi-hit performances.
Junior Brittiny Chapman and sophomore Kelei Walker also posted hits for the Mean Green.
The Mean Green is 0-4 in the California tournament. NT lost to No. 15 Fresno State, 8-0, on Friday evening. The softball team rounds out tournament play with an 11 am matchup with Utah on Sunday, March 14.
