Cranmer Posts RBI In 3-1 Loss

NORTHRIDGE, CA (3/16/04)- Junior Stephanie Cranmer posted an RBI single in the third inning to bring the North Texas softball team within one run of the lead, but Cal State Northridge held the Mean Green scoreless the rest of the game to take a 3-1 victory on Tuesday afternoon.
North Texas (7-33) lost the first game of the doubleheader, 9-0.
CSUN (16-8) scored in the first inning of the second game when Jen Dishner came home on a wild pitch by Mandy Hacker. The Matadors would make it 2-0 in the second when Jade Abel scored on a second wild pitch.
The Mean Green would cut the lead in half with an unearned run in the third. Cranmer singled in Katy Maxey, who reached on an error.
The Matadors added an insurance run in the sixth to make it 3-1. NT posted three hits in the remaining innings, but was unable to string anything together.
The Matadors scored six runs in the final two innings to take a 9-0 victory in the first game of the doubleheader. CSNU outhit the Mean Green, 13-2. Sophomore Kelei Walker and junior Mandy Hacker posted hits for North Texas.
North Texas returns home to face Northwestern Oklahoma State in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 20 at Denia Park. The first pitch is set for 1 pm.
