DENTON (3/29/04)- North Texas freshman Katy Maxey was named the Sun Belt Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week on Monday after winning three games in the Mean Green/Wells Fargo Classic this past weekend. The conference award is the first for the Mean Green team.
The Mean Green (13-36) captured the title after going 5-1 in the tournament and winning a record five straight games. Maxey was one of five Mean Green players to be named to the all-tournament team.
