UTA Downs Mean Green In Seventh

Arlington (4/21/04)- The North Texas softball team held a 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning, but Texas-Arlington scored two runs off two hits and two errors to steal the win on Wednesday night at Allan Saxe Field.
The Lady Mavericks take a 2-1 advantage in the series with the 2-1 win, while the Mean Greeen (16-46) loses its fourth game in a row.
Junior pitcher Mandy Hacker (5-14) took the loss for North Texas despite allowing only four hits in six innings of work. The two runs were both unearned.
North Texas got on the board in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. Freshman Monica Garcia scored after an error by Texas-Arlington. Garcia started off the inning with a walk and advanced around the bases after singles by freshman Christen Jonse and sophomore Kelei Walker. Junior Stephanie Cranmer recorded an RBI after reaching base on a error, scoring Garcia.
In the bottom of the seventh, Texas-Arlington landed two runners on base after two errors by North Texas. Two consecutive singles scored the two unearned runs.
Freshman Heather Bostic was 2-for-3 in the game.
North Texas returns to action on Saturday, April 24 when it faces eighth-ranked UL Lafayette in a doubleheader at Denia Park. The first pitch is set for 1 pm.
