Wichita State Snaps Mean Green's Seven-Game Winning Streak

WICHITA, Kan. (4/6/04)- The Wichita State softball team snapped the Mean Green’s seven-game winning streak with two wins on Tuesday afternoon at Wilkins Stadium.
The Shockers (23-14) defeated North Texas, 3-0, in the first game and 5-0 in the nightcap. The Mean Green (15-38) had won its last seven games and recently finished an 8-3 homestand.
Junior Lindsay Craig posted her 15th victory of the season in the first game, allowing only two Mean Green hits. Julie Darling led the Wichita State offense with two hits, including a home run in the fifth inning to make the score, 3-0.
Freshman Susan Waters and Monica Garcia recorded the two lone hits for the Mean Green in the first game.
Freshman Margo Pruis pitched her first career no-hitter in the nightcap. Pruis pitched seven innings, allowing only two walks while striking out nine Mean Green batters.
Freshman Katy Maxey received the loss in the first game for the Mean Green, allowing three runs on four hits. Junior Mandy Hacker allowed four runs off seven hits in the second game.
North Texas opens up conference play on the road this weekend with four games against Florida International. The Mean Green starts action on Saturday at 1 and 3 pm in Miami, and then concludes play on Sunday, beginning at noon.
