Maxey Named To SBC All-Tournament Team

DENTON (5/17/04)- North Texas freshman pitcher Katy Maxey was named to the 2004 Sun Belt All-Tournament Team after helping the Mean Green to a 1-2 record in the conference tournament this past weekend.
Maxey went 1-1 in two starts. She posted a complete-game shutout in the 2-0 win against Western Kentucky on Thursday, May 13. The freshman spread out six hits in the win, allowing only one walk.
Maxey finished the season with a record of 16-34 in the circle after taking the loss in the final game against New Mexico State. She pitched seven innings against the Aggies, allowing six hits and four unearned runs.
The Katy, Texas native finished her freshman season with a season-low 3.70 ERA. She allowed zero earned runs in her last four starts.
Maxey has received numerous honors in her first season in a Mean Green uniform. She was recently named second-team all conference, was a Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week honoree and was named to two all-conference teams during the season.
North Texas finished its first season in the new era of Mean Green softball with an overall record of 22-57.
