OK State Shuts Out North Texas, 2-0

Stillwater, Okla. (3/18/05) - The Oklahoma State softball team used a pair of solo home runs to defeat North Texas, 2-0, on Saturday night at Cowgirl Stadium.
The Mean Green (7-16) has lost its second straight game, and the Cowgirls evened the series with North Texas at 2-2.
Tara Jeffery put the Cowgirls on the board with a leadoff shot to right field in the second inning. Megan Carey led off the fourth inning in similar fashion, sending a long ball over the left field fence to put the Cowgirls ahead, 2-0.
Jessica Hoppock and Marjorie Johnson combined for the one-hit Oklahoma State shutout, surrendering just one hit to the Mean Green in the sixth inning. The pitching duo combined for 10 strikeouts.
North Texas pitcher Kristina Fowler allowed five hits over six innings of work. The freshman’s record drops to 5-6 on the season. Senior Stephanie Cranmer recorded NT’s only hit in the game.
North Texas continues its road trip with a doubleheader against Texas on Wednesday, March 23. The first pitch is set for 5 pm.
