Bostic Posts Two Hits In Loss To No. 8 Oklahoma

DENTON (3/30/05) - Sophomore Heather Bostic posted two hits in the North Texas softball team’s 9-1 loss to No. 8 Oklahoma on Wednesday night at Denia Park.
The Mean Green (7-19) lost its fifth straight game and second of the season to Oklahoma. The Sooners improve to 34-6 overall.
Nicole Denes improved to 8-0 on the mound for the Sooners, giving up just one hit in four innings of work. Freshman Kristina Fowler (5-8) was handed the loss for the Mean Green after giving up six runs in the first two innings.
The Sooners jumped ahead early, scoring four runs off four hits in the first inning. Fowler gave up two hits to start off the second inning before being relieved by senior Mandy Hacker. The left-handed pitcher gave up two runs but was hurt by two North Texas errors in the inning.
North Texas scored its lone run off an RBI double by Bostic in the bottom of the second inning. She knocked in sophomore Christen Jonse, who walked to get on base. Bostic also recorded an infield single in the fifth inning. The game was called after five innings due to the eight-run rule.
Freshman Morgan Monte relieved Hacker in the third inning. She gave up one run off three hits in three innings of work. Monte had not seen action on the mound for the Mean Green since Feb. 19 at the OU Classic.
North Texas continues its homestand on Friday when it faces Oklahoma State at 5 pm at Denia Park.
