Softball Looks For First Sun Belt Win This Weekend

“We have worked a lot this week on our mental game,” said Burns. “We have had mental breakdowns in almost every game. It made just be for an inning or one pitch from the pitcher. We have to stay mentally tough for all 21 outs or all 42 outs in one game, offensively and defensively.”
The team has also worked on situational hitting. With runners on, NT is batting .203, compared with the opponents’ .259. Coach Burns had the team practice a drill called, “Move’em over, get’em in” to help them hit with runners on base.
“One batter starts with a runner on first and she gets three outs to score that runner as many times as she can,” explained Burns. “We had some players doing really well. It makes them think more about what their job is at the plate with runners in different positions.”
