Softball Posts Four Home Runs In 10-6 Victory

Murfreesboro, TN (4/16/05) The North Texas softball team had its largest offensive output of the season, beating Middle Tennessee, 10-6, for the Mean Green’s first conference victory of the season on Saturday afternoon.
The Mean Green jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first game behind RBI doubles by senior Mandy Hacker, senior Stephanie Cranmer and Kristina Fowler in the first inning.
Sophomore Kelei Walker added onto the lead with two-run homers in the fourth and sixth innings.
Sophomore Katy Maxey (2-7) earned the victory in the first game. She pitched five innings and allowed three runs on six hits. Freshman Morgan Monte pitched the final two innings. Middle
Fowler (6-11) recorded her first complete-game shutout in the second game. She allowed only five Lady Raider hits in seven innings of work. The freshman had not won on the mound since March 6.
The Mean Green helped Fowler out by scoring two runs in the fourth inning. Hacker and Cranmer both singled before Muller knocked in the first run with a single. Sophomore Monica Garcia posted the second run batted in with a sacrifice fly.
Cranmer led the offense with three hits and one RBI in the combined two games.
