North Texas Falls To No. 11 Oklahoma

Norman, OK (5/4/05) - The North Texas softball team lost to No. 11 Oklahoma, 11-3, on Wednesday night at the OU Softball Complex.
The Mean Green (12-33) went 0-3 against the Sooners (35-13) during the 2005 season.
The Mean Green scored three runs in the fifth inning after being shutout, 11-0. Senior Mandy Hacker hit her second career home run to tack on the second and third run. Hacker has hit home runs in two consecutive games. Sophomore Katy Maxey started the Mean Green offense with a double and was knocked in by senior Stephanie Cranmer. Hacker brought Cranmer home with a two-run long ball. OU made the final two outs to seal the win.
The OU offense posted 12 hits off North Texas in the mercy-rule game. Heather Scaglione went 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored to lead the Sooner bats. Scaglione knocked in the first run after Oklahoma started the game with four straight singles. After getting in a 3-0 hole, North Texas posted two singles in the bottom of the first inning but both batters were left stranded.
Sophomore Susan Waters posted singles for North Texas in the second and fourth innings but was unable to advance. North Texas left six runners stranded in the game. Waters, Maxey and Cranmer each posted two hits for the Mean Green.
Kami Keiter earned the win on the mound for the Sooners. She allowed only four hits in four innings of work, while striking out eight Mean Green batters.
North Texas concludes the 2005 regular season with a series against Western Kentucky on May 7-8 at Denia Park.
