Mean Green Defeats Alvin, 14-6

DENTON (10/19/06) - The North Texas softball team scored five runs in the eighth inning to come back and defeat Alvin Junior College, 14-6, on Thursday night at the Mean Green Softball Complex. The Mean Green posted 24 hits in the 14-inning game.
The Mean Green held Alvin scoreless the last seven innings after giving up four runs in the first inning. The visitors posted a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to take a 6-5 lead. North Texas responded with five runs in the next inning to take control of the game. In the fifth, senior Susan Waters knocked in two runs with a single and Heather Bostic followed with a single that knocked in one more base runner. Bostic posted three hits in the game.
Senior Monica Garcia led the Mean Green offense with four hits, including a two-RBI double in the 12th inning. Junior Katya Muller recorded three hits, including a triple in the ninth inning.
The Mean Green is hosting the University Classic this weekend, beginning on Friday at 10 am against North Central.
