Mean Green Softball Splits In First Day Of OU Tournament

The Mean Green (10-11) takes a 1-0 lead in the series against
North Texas scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning against
Sophomore Kristina Fowler won her eighth game of the season, pitching a season-high eight innings and striking out a season-high nine batters. She allowed four earned runs off nine hits.
Junior Susan Waters knocked in the first of three runs in the eighth inning with a double to right center, scoring senior Kelei Walker who was placed on second. Waters scored the second run of the inning after an RBI single by junior Heather Bostic. Bostic posted two hits in the game, while Waters went 3-for-4. Sophomore Taylor Johnston posted the third RBI of the inning with a single.
Bostic started the offense in the fifth inning with her first home run of the season. Prior to the home run, Bostic had gone 0-for-24 at the plate. Sophomore Katya Muller and Waters contributed to the five-run inning with RBI triples. Sarah Jones also knocked in a run with a single.

The Mean Green was outhit in the second game, 16-4. OU opened the game up with a five-run fourth inning and then ended the game on the run rule with three runs in the sixth inning.
North Texas returns to action on Sunday, March 12 when it faces
