Waters Named First-Team All-Sun Belt

Miami, Fla. (5/10/06) Junior third baseman Susan Waters was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Team, released Wednesday by the league office. Waters is the second North Texas player to earn first-team honors in the three-year history of the program.
Waters was one of 11 conference players to be named to the first team after leading North Texas in batting average (.320), doubles (14), home runs (18) and RBI (52). The third baseman is among the conference leaders in doubles (tied for second), RBI (third) and home runs (fourth).
The Davenport, Okla., native currently holds the single-season and career records for home runs and RBI at North Texas. The junior is 15th in the NCAA in home runs per game (.33), 23rd in slugging percentage (.766) and 27th in RBI per game (.76).
Waters received numerous accolades during the year after being named a preseason All-Sun Belt selection. For the second year in a row, she was named to the Tulsa Festival All-Tournament Team. During the tournament, she hit .333 with six hits. Waters was also named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on March 13 after posting seven hits in the OU/Worth Invitational, including two home runs against No. 14 Oklahoma.
She has posted five home runs in conference games, including two in the three-game series against Troy.
Waters and the Mean Green open the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Miami with a match-up against No.3 seed Western Kentucky on Thursday, May 11 at 11 am, eastern time.
