Mean Green Softball Hosts University Classic This Weekend

DENTON (10/4/07) - The North Texas and TWU softball teams will host the University Classic this upcoming weekend, beginning on Friday at 9 am. North Texas will play all of its games at its home field, Lovelace Stadium, while TWU will play at Pioneer Field.

A total of nine teams will compete in the two-day tournament. The Mean Green will play three games on Friday afternoon and three games on Saturday. The tournament will begin at 9 am on Friday at both fields. North Texas will take the field for the first time at 3:30 pm against Northwood and then again at 5:30 pm. and 7:30 pm.

North Texas is hosting a tournament for the second straight weekend. Last week, the Mean Green competed in the North Texas Playday. NT wraps up its fall season on Saturday with its three final games in the University Classic. The Mean Green plays at 12:30 pm, 6 pm and 8 pm.

The Mean Green finished the 2007 season with a 22-36 overall record and a 10-14 conference mark. NT returns six starters and 13 letterwinners for the upcoming season.
