Lail Strikes Out Nine In Victory

The Mean Green goes to 7-18 overall, while the Techsters extend their overall record to 15-14.
Lail improved to 4-5 on the season with a complete-game performance. The sophomore allowed only one run off five hits, while striking out a career-high nine batters.
Louisiana Tech outhit the Mean Green, 5-4, in its opening loss and was then outhit, 12-7, in its victory in the nightcap. The Mean Green was hurt by three errors and three Techster home runs in the loss.
Junior Kristina Fowler posted the team’s only RBI in the win with a double in the bottom of the third inning. Susan Waters scored from first, and Fowler ended the inning by trying to stretch her double into a triple.
The Mean Green scored two runs off two Techster errors in the fourth inning. Senior Christen Jonse posted the only hit of the inning with a single.
Amberly Waits scored the only run of the first game for Louisiana Tech after doubling to get on base.
Christine Echols broke a 3-3 tie in the fourth inning with a home run to left field for the Techsters. Louisiana Tech scored three unearned runs in the second inning to take an early lead. The Mean Green was hurt by two fielding errors, including a two-run error in the outfield.
The Mean Green tied the game in the third inning with two runs, including a two-RBI double by Susan Waters on a ball that bounced off the top off the outfield wall.
Emma Barnes and Echols added insurance runs for the Techsters with home runs in the fifth and six innings.
Susan Waters posted four hits in the doubleheader, including a 3-for-4 performance in the nightcap.
North Texas returns to conference action this weekend when it travels to
