Platt Homers In Softball Victory

Mobile, AL (3/18/07) - Sophomore Kadie Platt lifted the North Texas softball team to a 1-0 victory against South Alabama with a solo home run in the third inning on Sunday morning at Jaguar Field.
The Mean Green (8-20, 4-2) won one of three games against the Jaguars, who fall to 15-10 and 2-1 in the Sun Belt. The Mean Green is 1-2 in the series against USA and with its four conference wins has already secured more league victories then last year’s team.
Platt led the Mean Green offense with two of NT’s three hits in the victory, including her first home run of the season in the third inning. Sarah Jones recorded the third hit for the Mean Green; a single in the seventh inning.
Sophomore Ashley Lail (5-7) had one of her best performances of the season, allowing only two hits in seven innings of work. Lail went 1-2 in two starts against USA this weekend. She was on the losing end of a 1-0 decision in the first game on Saturday despite allowing only five hits. The sophomore transfer posted a ERA of 0.95 in three appearances.
The Mean Green and the Jaguars dueled it out in the circle this weekend. USA outhit the Mean Green, 13-10. Platt led the offense with three hits. USA posted an ERA of 1.33, compared to NT’s 1.47.
North Texas returns to action on Wednesday, March 21 when it faces Central Arkansas at 3 pm in a doubleheader at Lovelace Stadium.
