Mean Green Softball Hosts No. 3 Oklahoma Tonight

DENTON (4/11/07) - The North Texas softball team hosts No. 3 Oklahoma on Wednesday night at 6 pm at Lovelace Stadium.
NT (16-26) lost to the Sooners, 4-1, at Norman on March 1. OU was ranked No. 6 then and has moved up to No. 3 in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 Poll with a 41-4 overall record. The Mean Green is 1-8 this season against Big XII teams and 0-10 overall versus the Sooners.
With her one scored run last week, Susan Waters set the single-season record at North Texas for runs scored with 37. She surpassed her own record of 36, which she set last year. Waters holds 11 single-season school records and leads the conference with 37 runs scored.
Susan Waters is among the Division I leaders in home runs per game and slugging percentage. The senior is ranked No. 20 in home runs per game (.31) and 46th nationally in slugging percentage (.750) through games April 8. Waters leads North Texas and the conference in runs scored (37), home runs (13) and total bases (93).
Katya Muller and Kristina Fowler connected on the team’s 26th double play of the season against Middle Tennessee. The 26 double plays surpasses last year’s total of 23. The school record is 30, which the team set in 2004 when the Mean Green played 79 games. In the first week of national rankings, North Texas is ranked No. 1 among Division I schools in double plays per game (0.62).
