Rebecca Waters Homers In Mean Green Loss

DENTON (4/15/07) - Freshman Rebecca Waters hit her first career home run, but the North Texas softball team came up just short in a 2-1 loss to Troy on Sunday afternoon at Lovelace Stadium.
The Mean Green (17-29, 9-9 Sun Belt) went 1-2 in the weekend series with Troy, who extends its overall record to 35-12 and 13-5 in the Sun Belt.
Troy’s Rocky Paige hit a two-run home run in the second inning, giving the Trojans a 2-0 lead. Rebecca Waters hit a two-out home run in the fourth inning to bring the Mean Green within one, 2-1. Taylor Johnston followed Waters with a single, but NT was held hitless the rest of the way.
Angela Lopez took the win in the circle for Troy, holding NT to three hits. Ashley Lail took the loss for the Mean Green despite giving up just two runs off eight hits.
North Texas returns to action on Tuesday, April 17 when it faces Baylor at 5 pm at Lovelace Stadium.
