Bearkats Sweep North Texas In Doubleheader Action

Huntsville, TX (2/17/08) Sam Houston scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat the North Texas softball team, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Bearkat Softball Stadium. The Mean Green lost the first game of the doubleheader, 2-0.
The Mean Green’s record falls to 3-5 this year and 1-3 on the road. Sam Houston improves to 4-1 overall and leads the series versus the Mean Green, 6-1.
Senior Kristina Fowler gave
Sam Houston shut out the Mean Green in the first game of the doubleheader, 2-0. The Bearkats outhit the Mean Green, 10-3. Fowler held the Bearkats scoreless for five innings until giving up two runs in the sixth inning.
In her first start of her career, freshman Renae Bromley recorded her first collegiate hit in the fifth inning of the second game. Senior Taylor Johnston picked up her first hit of the season with a single to load the bases. Senior Lauren Bergstrom knocked home Kadie Platt with an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1. Bergstrom led the team with three hits in the doubleheader.
Freshman Courtney Bradshaw picked up her first two hits of her career in the second game of the doubleheader. Her first hit was a double in the second inning.
North Texas returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 20 when it faces
